How we write and check lessons

Last updated

Original content

Lessons, worked examples and practice questions on Salam Academy are our own. We do not copy textbooks, revision sites or exam board materials. Questions marked “Salam Academy Original Practice” were written for this site. Real past paper questions are always labelled with their paper and session, and link to the exam board's own paper and mark scheme.

We use software, including AI writing tools, to help draft and check content. Nothing is published until Salam Academy has approved it.

Matched to the official syllabus

For each course we record the official syllabus or specification objective by objective, from the exam board's current document. Each objective is linked to the lesson that teaches it, and we check that every objective is taught. Each lesson page shows which syllabus points it covers. These points are summarised in our own words; the board's specification is always the final authority, and each course page links to it.

Checks before publishing

  • Every answer is checked mathematically by our marking engine, so equivalent forms (for example 0.5 and 1/2) are both accepted.
  • Known wrong answers are checked to make sure they really are wrong, and each comes with feedback explaining the slip.
  • Every question needs a hint and a worked solution with mark points; every lesson needs at least twelve questions.
  • Formulae, graphs and diagrams are rendered and checked for errors on every update.
  • New and changed lessons go into a review queue and are published only after approval.

Keeping lessons up to date

When an exam board publishes a new syllabus, we record the new version and update the lessons it affects. Each lesson shows its revision number and the date it was last updated.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, please tell us. Signed-in students can press Report an issue on any question. Anyone can email shakeelurrahman225@gmail.com with the page address and what looks wrong. We check every report, fix confirmed errors and update the lesson's revision date.
