Salam Academy (salamacademy.online) helps students learn and practise for their exams. Many of our learners are under 18, so we collect as little information as we can, we never sell it, and we never show advertising.

Who is responsible for your information

Salam Academy runs this website and is responsible for the information described here. For any question about your data, or to use any of your rights below, email shakeelurrahman225@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your account: your name, email address and password. Your password is stored only in scrambled (hashed) form, so nobody at Salam Academy can read it.
Your study choices: the courses and exam boards you pick, and any study plan you set.
Your learning activity: the answers you give, hints you open, mistakes, test results and which lessons you have finished. This is what lets the site show your progress and suggest what to practise next.
Messages you send us: if you report a problem with a question or lesson, we keep your report.
Technical records: when you sign in we record the type of browser you use, and for a short time we keep your internet (IP) address to stop people flooding the site with requests. We also keep a log of important account actions to protect your account.

You can browse many lessons without an account. We do not ask for your date of birth, address, phone number or photo.

How we use it

To run your account and keep you signed in.
To show your progress, mark your answers and suggest what to study next.
To let your teacher see your progress, if you join their class.
To send emails you need, such as a password reset link. We do not send marketing emails.
To fix mistakes in our questions and keep the site safe and working.

Who can see your information

You, at any time, from your account.
Your teachers, but only for classes you have joined, and only your progress in those classes.
Our editors see the problem reports you send, and anonymous totals (for example, how many students got a question wrong).
Companies that help us run the site, only as needed for that job:
- Railway hosts the website and its database (servers in the United States).
- An email delivery service sends password reset emails.
- If the Salam Tutor chat is switched on and you use it, your message and the question you are working on are sent to our AI provider to write a reply.

We never sell your information or share it with advertisers.

Cookies and storage in your browser

We use one cookie to keep you signed in. It lasts up to 30 days, or until you sign out. Your browser also remembers small preferences, such as light or dark mode and the last subject you opened. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Your account and learning record stay until you delete your account.
When you delete your account, your personal information and learning record are removed.
Sign-in records end after 30 days; records used to stop request flooding are cleared after a short time.

Your rights

See and download your data: Settings → download your data.
Correct it: change your name and details in Settings.
Delete it: Settings → delete your account, or email us.
Ask us anything or complain about how we use your data: email shakeelurrahman225@gmail.com. You may also contact the data protection authority where you live.

Children and parents

If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before you create an account. Parents and guardians can email us to see, download or delete their child's information, and we will check that the request is genuine before acting on it.

Keeping it safe

The site only works over a secure (https) connection, passwords are stored hashed, and access to student data is limited to the people listed above.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
